DFW Freight Companies?

Does anybody know of any Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex area air-freight companies? I've done a bit of googling and can't seen to pull much up.

Thank you,
-Brett

When I left they had two Chieftain runs? But it seemed most of the routes were indeed out station based.

You'd have to ask Kelvin, he'd know a lot more than me.

-3 Brasilia runs out of Dallas (Midland, Lubbock, Amarillo)
-2 PA-31 runs out of Dallas (Pampa, Vernon)
-4 Metro reserve pilots in Dallas.

-1 PA-31 run out of OKC that stops in Altus and Wichita Falls.

-1 B1900 out of SAT that goes to Laredo, but probably won't ever be open.

-3 Metro runs (San Angelo based to Austin; Corpus based to SAT; Corpus based to AUS).

Currently hiring for at least one Brasilia FO. Probably Midland or Amarillo based with a night layover in Dallas.

I've contacted someone about it and I am waiting on him to give me a call back. I'll be PM'ing you the info as soon as I hear!

AMF! Just say "Vernon" and they'll say "Your hired! and you can work here for as long as you like".

They've actually have had Vernon consistantly covered for a couple of years now! Since there is nowhere to move in the DFW base, they've began to think about putting guys/gals, who choose not to get into the Brasilia, directly into the metro form the chieftan if an outstation is available.

Since I'm not chieftan qualified anymore....if I'm assigned DFW for TDY, I have to do the run in a 99. They also put us up in a new Holiday Inn Express that was recently built. I heard the Econo Lodge burned down and they were putting us up in a Super 8. I wasn't a big fan of the Super 8 and requested that they put us up in the Holiday Inn Express. Life there is much better now.:)

Thanks KLB.... called both people.... and although I got voicemail I left a detailed message about what was going on.... (on a side note) in Venezuela I just saw a DC-9 abort a takeoff, collapse the left main, and spin 180 degrees before coming to a rest 1000 ft short of the end of the runway which so happens to turn into ocean.... back to the original thought.... I am looking forward to hearing back from AMF.

Thanks again KLB.

Great thread! I'm an up& comer in the SAC/FAT area. Amflight has 99's outstation at Merced. Question: can you hold the same outstation for prolonged periods of time? (seniority allowing) Or does the company make you change it up?

I live in Merced, and would love to have that run for as long as possible. It's no great TPIC time-builder for sure (.5 to MOD, another .5 to SAC), but QOL factor is compelling.

And for those outstation guys, what do you do with the 5-8 hours of down time? Do people have seconds jobs, instruct...etc???

Thanks, S!

What might change it up is if the outstation got closed by the customer, or the type of aircraft on the run changed. Both happen from time to time. Other than that, they are more than happy to have outstations filled for all of eternity! :)

You are one of the few people who understands the whole "outstation" concept. A lot of people take them for the quick upgrade and then end up hating them, complaining incessantly, and then quitting. If you do it right (meaning live there) and for the right reasons (QOL), being outstation-based can be a pretty good deal.

Those 99 runs out of SAC may be difficult to darn near impossible to get hired into. The reason being that SAC is a part of the OAK base. Since there only two 99 runs and over 20 chieftan runs out of OAK, most people transition over to the 99's out of SAC. As of now, upgrade times in OAK look to be a year. Again, no matter what some people might tell you, upgrade times in OAK to the 99 are about a year or more!
