Position Description
Provides operational suitability guidance as part of a UAS development team. Plans and remotely conducts ground, flight and developmental test flights for experimental, prototype and production UAV aircraft and control stations to verify aircraft performance, stability/control, and system functionality. Develops and coordinates flight test plans, mission and contingency plans, procedures and techniques to achieve qualification or certification. Plans and develops technical reports and flight reports. Evaluates flight data and participates in UAV aircraft and control station design and development and recommends changes to design based on naval carrier operational considerations. Participates in development of naval-specific UAS operational procedures and systems. Collaborates on marketing, evaluation and demonstration activities for customers; conducts familiarization, demonstration and training flights. Job requires FAA Commercial Pilot Instrument certificate.
