Denied the SIDA badge, appeal

Has anyone ever been denied there SIDA badge by the port authority?
I was denied because they said I failed to disclose information about a previous arrest. I had to write a letter of appeal to some lady who makes the final say. Has this happened to anyone? And what was the outcome,
 
The one thing in aviation that is guaranteed to get you in trouble, even more than making a mistake, is honesty issues. If it appears to the individual determining if you get a SIDA badge that you were deceptive or provided "wrong information" (your words), I think your chances are low of getting it, even with an appeal. I don't know what position you are needing a SIDA badge for, but aviation in general, demands honesty and accuracy.

You can't provide "wrong information" on anything when it comes to an aviation related job. It's the same in the train industry and to some degree in the maritime industry. You have to know your background backwards and forwards. If you are unsure, do a background check on yourself to find out exactly what is in your file. Sounds like you hosed yourself. Best of luck.

What is the best method for doing a background check on yourself? Even to get at those pesky issues that are sometimes not included on the NDR.

Yup.
On the other hand, resisting arrest is pretty much the LEO equivalent of the FAA's 91.13. If you've done nothing wrong but have the unmitigated temerity to do anything that might allegedly offend LEO (you know, like asking a polite question, for instance), LEO will then use "resisting arrest" to arrest you in a fashion similar to how Jimbo Kerns uses "it's coming right at us" to shoot any damned thing he pleases.

There are several online vendors which provide a background check service. I've found the most reliable to be the ones a landlord would use for a background check.
 
A guy in my class awhile back was arrested and then later had all charges dropped. His lawyer said you won't have to worry about it showing up on your record. Well, when it came to the "have you ever been arrested question" he answered no. The company found out and kicked him out of class.
