We are proudly recruiting pilots for first officer positions. As a new Delta first officer, you have an opportunity to initially be assigned to a MD88/90, a 737NG, or even a 757/767 aircraft type among our fleet of more than 440 aircraft. To qualify for employment as a pilot with Delta, you must meet all of the following requirements.
General Requirements
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Graduate of a four-year degree program from a college or university accredited by a recognized accredited organization
    • Degrees obtained from a non-U.S. institution must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. degrees by a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
    • Postgraduate education will be given favorable consideration.
  • Current passport or other travel documents enabling the bearer to freely exit and re-enter the U.S. (multiple reentry status) and be legally eligible to work in the U.S. (possess proper working documents)
FAA Requirements
  • FAA commercial fixed-wing pilot license with an instrument rating
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • Passing score on FAA ATP written exam preferred
Flight Time Requirements
  • Minimum of 1,200 hours of total documented flight time
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turboprop or turbofan time
When evaluating the flight time of applicants meeting the basic qualifications, consideration will be given to, among other things, quality, quantity, recency, and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations; and hours flown as PIC in turbine powered aircraft. Applicants invited to interview must provide appropriate documentation of all flight hours.
Other
  • FCC Radiotelephone Operator's Permit (RP)
  • DOT required pre-employment drug test and a medical exam administered by Delta
  • TSA required fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check and a Delta background check
Applications for employment as a Delta pilot must be submitted through AirlineApps.com. Applications for Delta pilot positions may be submitted free of charge, though a fee may be charged if you wish to join AirlineApps as a member for added features. If you are already a member of the AirlineApps system, sign in to your account and add Delta to your target listing.
New users can create an account to begin the application process.

It's a joke right?

Click on the "Apply Now" button and it takes you to a page saying there are 0 positions. My airlineapps.com membership lapsed so I can't check there. Can anybody else?

Looks like some CPZ and XJ pilots might get to move up!:) Good news that there might be some hiring.

From Delta's careers link:

Greater success and satisfaction are on the radar screen for professional aviators who land their talents at Delta. Ensuring that our passengers arrive at their destinations safely and on-time, our pilots earn their wings while helping our airline move full speed ahead.

Even though we are not actively hiring pilots and will not be reviewing applications until hiring resumes, individuals interested in joining our team of professional pilots may apply or update their existing applications via AirlineApps.com.

Visit Delta Pilot Basic Qualifications to view our basic requirements for pilot employment.

Just saying.

I think we have a case of updating one link without updating the following...

Read
http://www.deltajobs.net/pilots.htm

Then follow the "Delta Pilot Basic Qualifications" link and read that. Furthermore, the fleet description listed on the second link doesn't include the post merger types nor do the numbers match up. All signs point to a page that hasn't been updated.

Nothing new. However there is nothing that prevents you from either applying or updating a previously submitted app.

Thanks for checking. Good investigating work too. I figured that it was probably an out dated post. Especially considering the flight time requirements.

The truly sad point being the "Headlines" on the left side of AirlineApps.com, the LATEST one being January

Especially considering the flight time requirements.

Delta has always had low minimum flight time requirements. Prior to 9/11 there were no requirements. They actually have unpublished mins based on other qualifications.

When I interviewed (unsuccessfully :( ) in March of 08, the chief I spoke with before the interview told me the competitive mins for non military pilots were about 4000 hours TT and somewhere around 1500 turbine PIC; If my memory serves me correctly. Bear in mind this was the last month they interviewed before everything stopped. This information was unpublished; “Airline apps” still had the mins listed above.

When I interviewed, I had 1800 CRJ PIC and just shy of 5000 TT.

FWIW, I talked with some peeps down in the Kremlin today. They were already talking about hiring with a planned 1% increase YOY next summer. Now the latest word is 7% increase next summer. Now read between the lines as to what that means. :)

Good luck to all...it's great to even hear rumblings of hiring instead of the dreaded f-bomb.

I know they aren't actually hire, but could someone elaborate on:

" Applicants invited to interview must provide appropriate documentation of all flight hours. "

They serious? How do you have documentation on flight hours on anything prior to anything part 121 and/or part 135, realistically?

Also known as logbooks. :)

Plato's unofficial mins were 1500 for fighters, 2000 for bombers/transport, 3500 for airline and, 6000 for corporate. I think they pretty much stuck to that this last time around.

BTW, do you get to re-interview? If so, I'd call them as soon as hiring restarts.

I thought DAL is a one and done company?

There are four phases to the interview: computer testing, panel interview, physical and, psyche. You can fail all but the panel interview and be given a second chance. Most failures were during the cognitive eval in the computer testing. It means nothing, just a way to weed out folks.

Ever since delta stopped hiring i have updated my application 1 time a month with the hope it would help me when they start hiring again, I wonder if they can see that i did that?
