Delta says goodbye to midwest

Somebody posted on APC that Delta has or will terminate the agreement with Shuttle and CHQ. But I've found no confirmation on this. The Midwest deal is nothing.

If anyone over there is purporting to have a "crystal ball" on what that Atlanta-based carrier has plans for, close your ears and scream "NA NA NA NA NA" because they're probably making it up.

I've probably got my ear to the ground a little closer than most and I've heard nothing of the sort beyond two dudes gossiping in the pilot lounge.

There are those on the union side (drone bees) that WANT to because of the larger aircraft in RAH's fleet, but the queen bees in the union time and time again plead that there is no violation of scope.

Now if they would only tell Chautauqua and Shuttle the same thing so that RAH could concentrate on what they want to do, their own airline.

Meh. While I'd like to see more ties cut with RAH, this isn't really anything. Heck, losing CAL's codeshare is probably a bigger deal than having Delta frequent fliers not get miles on Midwest flights anymore. For the record, the reason I'd like to see more ties cut between Delta and RAH is because I think it's a little silly to subsidize your competition. Has nothing to do with current RAH contract negotiations/pay rates.

Yeah I think it was a miscommunication. I wouldn't be surprised if Delta canned the CPA with S5/RP due to the branded competition though.

And sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if our present MEC leadership sat on it's hands and pretended that it's no big deal if they didn't drop Republic! :)

RJs are good for Delta, everyone knows this!!!

"You do want a profitable company don't you? Don't you?"

Oh, I'd love to start dropping names, but I'll save that when I've got a couple vodka tonics in me at NetworkJC.

It sounds simple, but it's a logistical nightmare. I'm also speaking more the short term range, but I honestly can't think of one carrier that could replace their lift at the drop of a hat. Sure some places might be able to get the pilots, but also the airframes with the amounts of seats they have on the 170 and 175.

Id say it would be pretty easy. Slow the retirement of a few DC9s and then replace when newer planes become available. Its only 15 E175's and a similar number of 145's which no one wants anyways.

There are ample airframes available to Delta - from other DCI companies - to replace the Shuttle/CHQ lift currently being provided by RAH.

Who said drop of a hat? Over a year aircraft could be phased in/out.
