Hey Delta guys, what's this news I keep hearing about. One of my buddies at Delta texted me and said some big announcement is going to happen on the 15th. Supposed to be some good news for you guys. More flying or perhaps more airplanes? Maybe a need for some pilots? Sorry for spreading rumors. I figure it's better than the doom and gloom we keep reading about lately.

10 more mainline planes and 30 more 900's? j/k please hire:(

Hahaha...That's a good one.

Delta is announcing the purchase of 50 new Next Gen CRJ 10000 to be divied up among our Delta Connection "partners."* See notes below.

*In order to accommodate such purchase, Delta is pulling 15 737-200 aircraft out of Nowheresville Az.

In a secondary announcement the following day Delta will announce their sponcership of a new MMA league. The fighters will be regional FOs trained in hand-to-hand, no holds barred fighting. Winner takes new backpack, skateboard, ipod and the bragging rights of a new CRJ 100000 to be flown at his airline.

I hear on the streets that Hooters is back and they will fly those CRJ 100000's for Delta and this time, the FA's will be real Hooter girls. I'm pumping up my resume right now.

The JFK pilot lounge is getting it's roof fixed and additional mousetraps are coming to the lounge! Woooooot!

Mousetraps is slang for 777's and "pilot lounge is getting it's roof fixed" means they are closing up further scope erosion.

I am Richard Anderson and I approve this message.

I'd just like it if whoever is in charge of what Jepps I have to carry around and keep updated would stop hitting the peyote.

Ha, a year ago we had a pain in the ass revision taking all of the RNAV/GPS approaches out (we can't do 'em)... the next revision started adding all of them back in. :dunno:

We had the same ones at Eagle. I was off for almost a whole month so when I pick up my revisions I had three. Sat down and did the first one putting all the RNAV/GPS in number 2 taking them all out, and number 3 putting them back in god I love Jepp.

SOC in early or Furlough's. Probably going to park 80 planes over the next 2 years. What are they about 600 short right now on the early retirements they are asking for.

Just my guess. The only positive in the industry is American has 600 pilots under 40 and 600 over 60. 10 years.....Oh Baby!!!:pirate:

dont ask me how i know, but i do and i found out accidentally. I know this is a stupid statment but i actually can't say what it is until the night before. Its not the greatest thing that has ever happened, but it def. is good news and hiring (although will not start right away) should start sooner than anticipated which is good for us.

You can't post something like that and not PM a brotha. :)

Well, I've heard from numerous sources they were aiming for about 150 early outs, so being short by 600 would be mathmatically rather difficult. These early outs were strictly to address the training/displacement nightmare of retiring the 74-200's in ANC. They were not designed to address the general level of overstaffing for the fall/winter schedule (is that where you got the 600 number?) or were you just being cute and I missed it?

Anyone else have the idea that Delta is trimming the equipment fat NOW rather than when the Age 65's hit so that it's not such a huge bombshell to hire, train, upgrade, and replace?

If that makes sense.

Essentially, downsize the fleet appropriately so that when the retirees finally start to get pushed out the door the company won't have to hire just as many as if they had maintained a "larger" (relative to whatever number they have) fleet that requires more crew members.
