Delta new hires

I looked high and low then got lazy and just thought I would ask here. Can anyone tell me if any new hires had only turboprop time or if delta is going away from that kind of stuff.

I don't think they are "going away from that kind of stuff", I just think when you have 6000+ jet pic applicants, then the numbers will speak for themselves. I think military prop drivers are always fair game, however I think 121 prop drivers are very few and far between. I would suspect you need to know someone...as always.

I would say that since they accept both times it will be just like every other airline. If you meet the mins. its who you know not what you know that gets you the job. So if you interview well with the right connections the job is yours to lose. Since Delta is waiting until the last minute to hire I think they are planning on keeping the training center cycling with out breaks for the next few years. I think Delta will be fine with turboprop time for a while to come.

Flight Time Requirements
  • Minimum of 1,200 hours of total documented flight time
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turboprop or turbofan time

No, they were hired in 07 before the merger with Northwest.
AH. Got ya. Fedex picked up a few of our Saab guys around that time. Always nice to have more time in airplane the CA is making fun of taxing out of the ramp at MEM than the CA has total time in any airframe combined. True story.

I don't make a big habit of asking people what they did prior unless it comes up in conversation naturally, but I know a couple of prop-only new hires from the last round.

I didn't have any prior jet and don't make me embarrass myself by telling you how much PIC I had either.

I have more!

At least 1 in my new hire class but I think there might have beem more. I don't think that they have any issues with prop only guys. I just think there aren't all that many guys out there that fit that mold when compared to jet guys. It's like asking if they have an issue with former flight engineers...extreme example I know but you get the idea.

Wow this topic stayed on track :):eek2: Thanks for all the good info, and not turning it into a Jets are for hot tubs and Props are for boats thread.
