Delta Lightning Strike at ATL tonight

I hear seat 24B is already working up a lawsuit against Delta and the city of Atlanta for whiplash and emotional damages. [HASHTAG]#paxlivesmatter[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#gonnaneedalotofemotionalsupportcrittersnow[/HASHTAG]

So what do you do? Taxi back for an inspection, or just say F it?

It's a Boeing. I'm surprised the 737 didn't launch its own bolt back into the sky, just to show mother nature that it ain't scared. Boeing IS that bad ass.

FrenchBus would have pissed itself of it's fuel and returned quickly to the gate without pilot input.

Delta issues statement on lightning struck aircraft
August 20, 2015

Delta shared the following statement with employees and media Thursday about a web video that shows lightning striking a Delta aircraft:

Amateur video shows Delta flight 67 on Aug. 18 from Atlanta to Las Vegas incurring a lightning strike while in the takeoff queue. As with any event involving aircraft, Delta is doing a thorough investigation of the circumstances around this flight as safety is always Delta’s top priority.

The Boeing 737-900ER aircraft with 111 customers and six crew had been dispatched from its departure gate and proceeded to its take-off queue before lightning was occurring at the airfield. This flight, along with others, was holding for departure clearance from air traffic control. Aircraft design allows lightning bolts to be safely redirected. Fuselage structure and industrial-grade insulation acts as super-conductive lightning rod that rechannels lightning around and away from customers and crew and out into the ground via the landing gear.

Maddog would have never gotten struck in the first place. Lightning bolts are scared of the Maddog.

Tire was fine and did not catch fire or melt.

They departed for LAS and performed lightning strike inspection on the overnight in Vegas. As long as nothing is operating abnormally; its business as usual.

I'll guess that they didn't know they got struck (maybe it landed close right?)

Who in their right mind would take off after knowingly taking a lightning strike on the ground? You know lightning can punch holes in aircraft skin etc....The time to figure out that not all systems are operating normally is not on climb out. Gotta finish the mission though right?!
