I was arrested for a DUI last Spring. My BAC was .154%. I reported everything to the FAA. My HIMs AME requested I do a liver function exam which came out clean. I’ve also been doing monitoring via ETG tests monthly.
In October the FAA sent me a letter explaining I need to obtain a psychiatrist exam, abstain from alcohol, get into a monitoring program, and find a HIMs AME sponsor (which I’ve done) and I’ve also been going to AA meetings
The HIMs psychiatrist agreed with the FAAs recommendations and labeled my case as
abuse rather than dependency.
I sent everything into OKC and last week OKC sent my file to DC for approval.
1.) How long could it be before I hear a response? I’m a revenue airman and my medical expires in March
2.) although the psychiatrist wrote a very good report in my favor, he mentioned the phrase “possible blackout”. My HIMs AME said this could cause the FAA to label me as dependent and require me to go into treatment. Any truth to this?
