Any tips on helping the skin on my arms recover after an almost hour-long avgas bath?

Did it burn your skin?

If you have sensitive skin never let any type of hazordous material soak in to bare skin for any amount of time. Stop whatever you're doing and wash off. Your safety is always paramount. Inform your supervisor of any injuries.

If you do have irritations, try washing with cool water and applying aloe. See a doctor if nessisary.

Read the MSDS.

For contact dermatitis like this mild soap and water in warm water should get it off of you. Keep in mind there's lead in that gas. Read the MSDS- in case there are other side effects, you might want to keep the correct measures in mind.

... and next time, wear gloves. Remember MEK? Guys were up their armpits in that stuff for years before the military figured out it causes chromosome damage.

There's nothing like getting a jet fuel bath, for sure. There's nothing wrong with me though *twitch* ;)

Way to take away from the MEK joke I was just about to make!

In all seriousness I've always used cold water and dawn dish soap then liberal amounts of lotion....giggidy.

Yeah 4 days later I have a pretty nasty chemical burn type thing going on. Just gonna go easy on it and keep putting lotion on till it goes away I guess. Lesson learned and I'm not pulling that particular stunt again.

If it persists to a week see a doc. Seriously. I used to work HAZMAT as my side job in the military. Read the MSDS, and if you start to feel worse, don't be too proud. Maybe I'm being overcautious... but maybe I'm not.
