Daniel Webster College-Campus Life?

How is the campus life at DWC? The reason why I asked is because there are only 1,000 students there and I'm worried that there won't be much of a social life over there.

From what I've heard from people around the airport (the airport I fly at is 50.1nm from KASH) it's really boring.

After some of the stuff that happened over the summer, Mainly the de-accreditation, and the subsequent sale to ITT (a for-profit education company) I would be VERY hesitant to go there hoping for the 4 year degree flight program to still be kicking in 4 years.

I'm sitting at DWC right now, and I won't lie, if your looking for parties, lots of social events, and the "typical" college life, you won't find it here. Being bored is quite common. ( like me right now) There's still games, and student planned activities and all, just not as many as you would find at a huge university. You have to really know what you want to enjoy your time here.

That's not to say its a bad school. Almost every one of my professors has been great so far, especially the ATC guys.

The campus gives a new definition to small, but I like it and there are LOTS of changes and renovations coming next year.

As far as the ITT thing goes, it was either that, or the school goes under. To be honest, I really havent seen many negatives with ITT. You hardly here the words "ITT" on campus. We're still Daniel Webster College. Theres all kinds of money being put into new housing, and landscaping as well.

As for the flight program, it still prepares you well for what you want to do, its just a matter of wanting to pay 50,000 a year for it. This isnt just a Daniel Webster thing, all colligiate aviation is expensive. Many people drop out of flight majors and take other courses. Many students have said the best way in is with your PPL.

Like I said, if you know what you want, and your not looking to get drunk and high each day, and your willing to study and put a lot of effort into your college, then Daniel Webster is a pretty cool place to go. The people here do care, and I can tell they want to help out in any way possible.

Lots of people have dropped out, transferred, or switched majors in the first month alone. It's deffenitly not appealing to everyone. Feel free to ask me more question if you want to know something in detail.

Edit: Sorry to clarify, I'm a first year ATC student.

I'm just mainly going to DWC for the aviation management program. How is the program over there? I hope it is good.

I can't tell you exactly how it is because I'm not in it. I'll try to find somebody who is and ask them how they like it. As an ATC major, you get a good amount of management background as well, so the few business classes I have had so far have been fine.

Many people Major in flight or ATC, and minor in Aviation Management, so they have a backup.

As far as campus life goes...

I always managed to have a pretty good time. On the other hand, you can definitely tell you're not going to a big school as there are some nights where nothing is going on.

I was AFO and it seemed like most management kids were those who stopped flying for some reason or another. I cant say much about the program though. I figure you could get the same thing for a lot cheaper at a larger school though.
