Gday Guys, how yas doing?

Just a queston in regards to Crew rest areas. Anyone know which airlines and or which aircraft have them?

Do they come standard from boeing, airbus?

Whats the use? During long flights crews just rest in there while the SO flies?

Cheers

when i used to work with korean air, i had a chance to "tour" the B744 and there was a crew rest area in the back (way back) of the airplane. on the left side of the plane there is a little door and stairs to the left that lead up to this so called rest area. they said that the fligth attendants use that area to sleep and such but from what i know, no one really goes there unless they are "really" tired. the area was really,,,REALLY small...there were blankets and pillows and you can't really stand up there...you kinda have to crawl....up in the cockpit there was an area where the captain can go in and sleep. that was really neat.

now that i think about it, B744 is a BIG airplane.

A few years back I toured United Maintenance and went into a 744 that had a pretty nice loft in the back of the plane. I think there were bunk beds and a TV!

The CRA is added when there is an operational requirement, essentially a 2 man aircraft with operational flight time of over 12 hours for U.S. carriers.

On the United 744's that I have flown on they have had the f/a crew rest in the rear of the aircraft (I think they are above the economy section - I haven't been in those - but I have seen the pilots rest area behind the cockpit which is just a small compact area with two beds (small ones, very small)

.....

Some of the european airlines have removable crew rest under the economy section located in the cargo area....I think this is typically found on the A340's if I'm not mistaken.....

I'll be flying on some 747's within the next couple of months. Two of my flights will be on a United 747-400, one will be on a Qantas 747-300....I'll get some pics for sure!!!

On a few on of Delta's 777 that they use for the Atlanta-Tokyo run they have installed a 2 crew areas in the overhead. The pilots access door looks like a door to the lav but when you open it up it has steps up to a small lav and the up to 2 1st class style chairs and behind them is 2 beds. The FA's is toward the back with same setup except 4 chairs and 6 beds.
