Credit for areas passed

What has been everyone's experiences for getting the credit for the portions of a checkride they have already passed? Was your retest just doing the failed area and the other areas you didnt complete?

I ask because I passed my oral portion of my CFI Initial and failed on a landing!! I hope they just make me do the flight portion.

Thoughts?

Assuming you retest within the 60 days of the initial failure, you most likely won't have to repeat areas you successfully completed on the first attempt.

The PTS does say that the examiner can re-evaluate any tasks (including those previously passed) on the retest, but my experience has been that in most cases the retest just covers the failed area as well as any areas not attempted on the first try.

I also failed my CFI checkride on the flight (I somehow managed to mess up 8's on pylons), and the retest just consisted of doing 8's on, and then heading back to the airport to do the landings.

did you do your retest with the same examiner or a different one? I am pretty sure I will have a different examiner.

I did both of my CFI flights with the same examiner.

I'd be very surprised if the other examiner made you re-do anything on the oral portion, but you might end up repeating some of the landings on the flight (assuming you'd completed some of them on the first shot) so the examiner can get a better idea of how you perform.

well I hope it goes well next time around, Just waiting for my instructor to get my paperwork resubmitted...
