Crazy video from Las Vegas wind storm

That Mooney was most certainly a gear-up landing. The prop was turning. so was that Cessna. The PC12 I could buy but honestly, that just looks like a lot of gear up wrecks.

Seems like some are absolutely fine. The lighter ones I get,PA-20, C-172 etc. for the others bad tie down technique?

What were the winds?

Some of these look like they were tied down upside down otherwise I don’t see how it would be physically possible to end up like they were with the tie down straps still attached at both points

Always wondered the effects of tying down an airplane with no stretch or give.
 
In West TN and West KY, insured hangar queens are pushed out onto the ramp with marginal tie-downs for tornado watches.

Hooks airport (KDWH) at one time was the largest privately owned airport in the US of A (according to Charlie Hooks who owned it). Anyway, they had something like 750 airplanes based there - a hundred + jets and turboprops, lots of cabin-class piston twins, corp helicopters, US Customs and a bunch of singles plus flight schools, FBO's, and an abandoned Convair 220 left by marijuana smugglers in the early 70's. Anyway, this was after the price of oil had collapsed fully in 1985 and. YUGE numbers of the based airplanes were for sale or simply waiting to be repo'd. That timely act of God destroyed many hundreds of the fully insured airplanes, giving a needed windfall to our valiant, benevolent "JOB CREATOR HERO RICH PEOPLE".
