Getting word that a small aircraft crashed into a couple of houses and set them ablaze. No word on survivors/victims, exact location, aircraft type, etc yet.

Update: the crash site is in the town of Roy, near Ogden and Hill AFB.

Looks like final for Rwy 3 at OGD. Wx there is no bueno:

I was driving up the hill from Riverdale around 6 tonight and watched the fog build. Ground vis went from clear to 1/4ish in the course of driving two blocks. No idea what happened but won't be surprised if this played a factor. Happy to hear the pilot should make it to fly another day.

That has to suck. Third plane crash in that neighborhood. At least no one in any of the houses were hurt. I'm not familiar with that airport. How close is this area to the runway? It didn't look too far on the map.

4th crash......... in more than 20 years. Site is a few blocks from airport boundary but a decent bit from the threshold (2000 ft+/-).

I think he was referring to Northern Utah in general, since we did just have that UVU plane recently.

This inversion layer has been killing us here. It was 1/8SM vis and 100 ft vertical visibility for most of the day. The thing is as soon as you get 500AGL it is clear as can be and warm (well not warm, warmer). You do what you can, but sometimes forecasts change, I got caught in it yesterday. I am curious as to why this happened. Hope the pilot pulls through.
