Corporate Jobs Around Charlotte, NC?

IT Architect/ Former Cirrus Charter Pilot
I was wondering if anybody knows of any decent corporate jobs around the Charlotte area? I currently work for Ram Air Freight. My times are 3,220 TT and 520 multi. Only 8 hours of that is turbine time, everything else is in piston airplanes. I really want to get into corporate flying and I am trying to avoid going the regional airline route if that is at all possible.

I work at Wilson Air Center here in Charlotte, and I can give you the names of a few companies based here that might be of some help to you.

1) Southeast Air Motive -- Operate Navajo's and King Airs.

2) Teal Aviation -- Operate a few Citation XLS, and a Falcon 2000.
3) Sonic -- Operate a Falcon 2000, Falcon 90, and a Gulfstream.
4) National Gypsum -- Operate a Falcon 2000
5) Jetpool, LLC -- Operate a Citation XL, Citation CJ, Beechjet, Citation VII.

That's really about all I know. I don't have any contact information for the companies, but you can try looking them up online for their pilot requirements, etc. Hope this helps a little bit.

Wachovia, Dollar General, Hendricks Motorsports.... CLT is the place to be!

wow most those places sound excellent. I am sure with your times you will have no problem what so ever.

I am going to look into all of those places. I don't know what kind of flight time minimums they have, and if they want a whole bunch of turbine time. It sounds like Charlotte is a good place to be though.

I will be flying out of CLT for a while. Maybe I can make some contacts over at the Wilson Air Center.

Let me know what I can help with. I work at Wilson Air Center on 3rd Shift 2200-0600 Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun. Let me know when you stop in.

If you don't mind a drive, head up to Statesville and go into the FBO and ask for Doodle Brown. Tell him Travis Faudree sent you; the kid in the Ercoupe from Virginia, and then ask him if he could introduce you to the boys over in the Richard Childress Racing hangar next door. Either that, or go over on the other side of the field and talk to DEI or Lowes.

With most your big Corporate Flight Departments such as Bank of America, 3200 hrs aint jack, I know I've been told that when I sent a resume with 3000TT and 2000 Multi. There looking more for 8G, a few type ratings, international experience, and someone to tell you about the job, walk your resume in, and get you hired, before they even post the job.

I really appreciate the advice. I think that I will take a drive up to Statesville and see what I can do up there. It would be awesome if I could combine my love of flying and my love of nascar. Flying for Richard Childress or DEI would be a dream job for me. Do you know if either one of those teams are looking for pilots?

DEI just got a new 60 last year, and was filled before they even got it. Those jobs are usually high turnover though.

Pilot4500, have you looked into Carolina Air Charter up at JQF? I think they might be looking for some people. Most of the other corporate jobs have already been posted as far as the charlotte area. I wouldn't bother with Southeast Airmotive. Their pay is worse than the regionals.

I interviewed with General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products for a 3rd pilot position on their Citation VII back in November. They wound up hiring their part-timer. Seems like a hot bed of corporate activity there in CLT/JQF//EQY.

Thanks for that info. I am going to check out Carolina Air Charter as well.

Only if you have connections on the inside. It is a very tough market to crack. Many of these operations are not at the local FBO. They have their own (secured) hangars and are not accessible. As the saying goes....it's who you know. You don't usually call them....they call you.

I just saw Robbie Gordon is looking for EMB-120 captain and co-pilot out of Charlotte. It was on climbto350.
