Controlled airport procedures?

Ok, maybe it is late, or early really. But I'm looking for a book reference to assign students pre-reading before we go to the local Class C and D airports. Just assumed there was a quick rundown of the steps like everything else is presented in the AFH, then other questions and details could be covered in a bit of ground before the flight.

So, can't find a do this, then this, then this, etc. type of deal.

Don't have an AIM in front of me now, but assume information may be in there. Is there another source? Gives them the basic approach, tower, ground, clearance, ground, tower, departure. I'm reaching for the Jeppesen book after I type this, as I know it is likely in there, but looking for the government source.

Thanks,
Josh

Get your AIM. It's all in there. It might be some place else, but go ahead and get the students used to the AIM. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the link to the ASF thing.

Yeah, figured it was in the AIM, and found kinda what I expected when I looked in there after putting this question up here. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I mean, there is seaplane stuff in the AFH, so just figured there would be something in there about controlled field operations. There is a short mention of the different airspace types in the PHAK, but that is it in there. I have a handout anyhow, but wanted to give some pre-reading if there is a good source. This is where the non-FAA books seem to do a bit better, by packing the most commonly used stuff into one expensive book.

With the recent rewriting of the PHAK, I wonder if the AFH has an update coming soon. I suspect, and hope so, seeing the new PHAK and new Instrument Procedures book, the FAA is finally improving their presentation.
