Contrail bags?

I have so much space beside me on the E-jet that I'm considering scaling things up. I currently have a LW flight cube; for its size, it's pretty good... but I've been thinking about going to something larger for a bit more storage.

I'm really sold on investment in quality—I will always be willing to pay a premium for superior engineering or manufacture.

That said, I have my eyes on the Contrail FL400... and $260 is quite a premium. Does anyone have an opinion on things, or desire to "refer" me as a customer?

I've been wanting one of those bags but they are pretty spendy. That said they have an airline discount if you email them. About $145 if I remember correctly.

I have one of these from My Go Flight, $189.00. A gazillion pockets of different sizes. Room for a 15" laptop and an iPad and a pocket for a 1 liter water bottle or thermos. To top it off they have excellent customer service. Just recently, as in two week ago after about 3 years of service, both zippers on the computer pocket side had come off and were unusable. I called them and they said email some pictures which I did and three days later I had a new one on my doorstep no charge. That made me a customer for life.

@JetDoc — I'm not really looking for generalized flight bag recommendations this time, though I appreciate it. I'm actually specifically looking at Contrail at the moment.

@ClarkGriswold — I'll check and see. I know they have a discount for Horizon pilots. Hopefully that doesn't mean they have a surcharge for OO! ~.^

I've got the 440 and really like it. Don't know about your shop but here we can use our uniform allowance.

I've got the Horizon/Alaska issue bag and it's great. The only downside to it is that there's no built in cooler, but whatever.

Perhaps Horizon still gives one out, but there hasn't been an Alaska issue bag for at least two years. I have the Contrails FL400, it's rather nice.

Just use the "free" bag you get at Flight Safety every time you go for training. The bags last about three months before disintegrating. i think it's a subtle incentive to get at least 4 type ratings. ;P

I've been to Flight Safety and didn't get any free bag. Must be a mainline thing.

Is that a..... backpack?

Is that a..... backpack?
It comes with detachable straps to make it one if you want to and it also comes with a detachable single strap to wear it over the shoulder but I don't use it either fashion. I simply hang it by it's handle on the "J" hook on my Luggage Works bag. They also sell clips that you can use to attach it to the clips on the LW bag also but I see no need for that. The "J" hook works just fine.

The airplane outline on it just screams "professional equipment".

It's sold at Sporty's which also ups its coolness factor by at LEAST one order of magnitude.

O.M.G. Did you SEE the backpack he's carrying? SOOOO not cool. Gross!

Meh, I like it and it works.
Is there a cooler in it? I was looking at the pictures and it was hard to tell. To be honest it looks pretty practical but I just can't get past the airplane silhouette on it. I actually flew with someone who had one recently.

I have this one:

and there is no cooler but I place some of our higher quality trash bags in the bigger compartment and use it as such. Our planes have chillers normally so I usually just place my food in there when in the airplane. I also don't pack food like I used to at the commuters.
