Congrats Kristie!!!!

Ok, before we start getting "OMGZ, Congrats!" emails, here's the whole story.

Kristie had similar symptoms to what she had the day that we discovered that she had developed "Deep Vein Thrombosis".

Deep Vein Thrombosis, more or less is a condition where your body produces blood clots. These blood clots can build and build and if they break off and hit your lungs, you're in a world of hurt, but if it hits your heart or your brains, hello darkness my old friend...

DVT is WAAAAAAAAY more common than people think, especially with pilots that sit on their duff for long periods of time.

We caught the previous episode, got her treated and she's been clot/DVT-free. A couple weeks of self-administered stomach-injections of Lovinox, and six months of Cumadin/Warafin which is essentially "rat poison" to slowly dissolve the blood clot, but not at a speed where it could break off, cause a pulmonary embolism and your beautiful bride is dead, face down in her breakfast cereal and the "Valley and State" section of the Arizona Republic.

Turns out that Yaz/Yazmine and other therapeutic hormone treatments in birth control pills that tinker with your Estrogen have been known, in some cases, to cause this condition. If your loved one is on Estrogen-based BCP's, Danger, Will Robinson, DANGER!. Especially since previous blood tests showed positive for "Leiden/Factor-V"

So she's been having leg issues. We go to the doctor and again, he says "I don't want to be alarmist, but run like hell to the Emergency room, NOW NOW NOW and take an ultrasound of the area in question". Roughly paraphrased of course.

Do the testing, blood tests and whew, she came up negative and was just having leg cramps.

Whew! Dramatic day at the Taylor Compound yesterday, but all is good! :)

Long story short, she's not preggers. Besides, I'm probably sterile anyway because I had Chicken Pox so late in life and that'll kill your swimmers faster than a animatronic shark.

And it's TRUE...I am pleased to annouce that i have no new clots (in my legs)

It was about a year and a half ago when i was diagnosed with DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis...ie: blood clot in the leg)

the last 4-6 weeks have been kind of stressful since i'd started getting leg cramps again and they were getting progressively worse as time went on. Funny thing is that i am getting them in both legs now and that was tripping me out! My trip to Turkey was no problem at all, came back, no cramping whatsoever (which i thought was weird) but yesterday morning, i had a HUGE leg cramp that was so painful it made me nauceous...My calf muscles are still tight today but the pain really didn't go away for about 5 hours yesterday. so i decided to head to the doctor and of course, he said that they have no idea if it could be DVT again or not without an ultrasound...unfortunately, being that it was a saturday, i had to go to the ER to get it done.

My ultrasounds came back clear...doc said there was still a bit of a clot left from the initial blood clot (same area i guess?) but he checked my blood and potassium and electrolytes were fine so he had NO idea why for the leg cramps. he said "well, sometimes our bodies just work funny that way". Unfortunately, i don't feel overly confident on why these are occuring...but now i know that it's not clot related and need to do some research on what i need to change to get rid of them :D

I'm thinking that if i don't ever develop DVT again, then i'll know that it was most likely birth control (estrogen) related. I'm pretty sure it was anyhoo since i'd just recently changed over to Yaz and i'd been flying on a monthly basis for YEARS before the clot developed. but of course, i'll never know....

So no, for the many of you that put congrats and happy baby shopping in my facebook, sorry to disappoint, but I'm not preggerz :D

I am personally glad to hear that you are allright!

Take good care of yourself...especially when Doug's not there!

Glad all is well, glad Doug's sarcasm is still operable.

Sorry man, sometimes strife brings out my schtick! ;)

I literally cracked a joke during my father's funeral. One of the worst days of my life but my brain went into standup comedy mode for about two minutes.

Weird! :)

Glad to hear you're ok Kristie! If something happened to you we'd have to pitch in to help MikeD move to Scottsdale to keep Doug in line....

Bill had a nasty case of adult Chicken Pox (age 30) and both our kids were born several years after that. :)
