Confused and need advice

Hi everyone. Well, school started this monday and to date I have 31 semester units and a GPA of 3.21. I did all of this in one year at my local community college. Now the time has come to start deciding and applying to colleges. Like some, I have always had my eye on ERAU but was discouraged by the price. I have planned on applying to colleges in California (UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, CSU Long Beach). In addition I have been really interested in the Global Security and Intel. Studies degree at ERAU Prescott. Mainly for the close relationship and internships with several law enforcement agencies. Now here comes my concerns and questions:

1) Can you still earn you ratings at ERAU without majoring in Aeronautical Science? (Im still working on my PPL)

2) My instructor (recent ERAU grad) suggests when I transfer, continue my training at a Pt 141 school. Are there any good schools in the Los Angeles area that are 141, if I choose to transfer to a school there?

3) Does anyone know a little more about the Global Security and Intel. Studies major at ERAU Prescott?

Thanks for all you help in advance and your advice is truly appreciated.

1) No (you wouldn't want to anyway)
2) Surprisingly few for such a dense area. In my personal experience, 141 at an FBO is not worth it (unless you're VA or something)
3) STG always seemed to be the major that wrestlers and foreigners had. I'm not sure exactly why that was, but it is unique major which you will probably see at other schools in coming years.
If you are thinking about law enforcement as a career, there's no reason to spend riddle prices for a degree (no reason for spending that much to be a pilot either, but that's another thread). If you are in the LA area, there are many excellent programs at other Universities, including the ones you mentioned, to get you started towards a career in law enforcement.
I'll PM you with a good one that I know of.

Good Luck

I know a guy who is majoring in meteorology at ERAU in Daytona, and is earning his ratings there as well.

I was in STG....it's good. A very unique degree that's still fairly new and will become high in demand...especially after 9/11. I was planning on working for FBI or something before I switched to the flight degree.

And I'm not a foreigner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif

You can work for the FBI or whoever with just about any degree. It's really your work experience that makes you competitive unless you're a physical scientist.
