So I have a 3rd Class Medical that I got in August last year and under the part where it asks if you've had a history "frequent or severe headaches" I spaced out and forgot about the migraine I had 3 years ago and I checked no.

Also, last October I began having pains in my wrists and hands and I was taking Oxycodone for just a week that was not prescribed to me and it was also suspected that I may have had REM sleep disorder and I began taking Fluoxetine off and on for a few months because apparently it helps some people with the disorder. After getting no results I stopped taking it completely in December. At the time I didn't think much of taking meds that weren't prescribed to me but since then I've realized that this was a form of drug abuse.

I haven't flown since December and I would like to finish up my PPL but I don't want to fly illegally and I don't want to lie on my next medical either. If I went and got a new medical and checked the frequent and severe headaches box and drug abuse box would I be in trouble with the FAA? I read on another site about a guy who was in the same situation when he didn't report his history of ADD and the advice he got was to walk away from aviation entirely and let his medical lapse. Also, how likely would it be that I would be able to get my medical if I wouldn't be in trouble. The FAR regulation says "No substance abuse within the preceding 2 years". Should I wait 2 years to fly and then go get a new medical? That way I wouldn't have to report the drug abuse at all, correct? I want to make a career out of flying and I hope this doesn't end it.

Report the migraine. You will probably need some medical record for review. The drug thiung will be a non-issue. Just fully explain it on the 8500-8.

Okay so if I went to get a new medical next week I would be fine? I went to the emergency room when I had my migraine so would a record just saying when it happened be sufficient? Also, about 3 weeks ago I had a very minor migraine that lasted about an hour and a half. It's only my second migraine ever in my life. Will I still be ok?
