Well i have an interview with best buy today to be part of the Geek Squad. Hopefully I will do good and get a good job for once and for all.

Funny story... My ex roommate worked for best buy for 2 years and got laid off about 2 months ago. He was in the geek squad and in computer sales. He said each store laid off about 25-30 people.... only to hire others who would be paid less.... sounds almost tooo familiar (i.e., airline management)

I am 18, and actually to work at regular best buy the age limit is only 16. For GeekSquad is 18+.

As far as the interview went, it went good, The whole process is a series of 4 intervies. One over the phone, and three on site.

I passed my first three so far, I'm just awaiting the call for the last one.

What qualifications are required to work for them? I've always thought that'd be a good way to make some extra cash. I realize the general public doesn't know squat about computers or how to clean spyware, and I know thats who Geek Squad caters to.

Qualifications are general computer knowledge, what parts do, take them out, put them in. fix viruses, adware, ect. As long as you are motivated to work, they will put you in as a cadet, and learn all of the really hard stuff as you move up. At first you just sit on the store, putting in sound, graphics cards, memory sticks, hard drive ect, and helping customers over the phone.

Geed Squad caters to people who dont know anything about computers and need them fix, they can either bring them to the store, or we can go on-site and fix them there.

BTW I got the JOB. LOL
