Commuting out of ROC & SYR

I'm wondering if anybody here commutes regularly out of ROC or SYR to ORD. As my parents age, I'm feeling pressure to move closer to them which would mean my husband would have to commute to ORD from either of those two airports. My husband thinks that there is probably ALOT of competition for seats/jump seats out of those cities making his commute a nightmare. Does anybody have any experience/perspective?

I've done a fair bit of commuting out of SYR....but not heading West. My commute is to EWR.

That being said, friends of mine made the ORD/DTW commute on a regular basis from SYR. Both American and United operate SYR-ORD, so there are several options daily. They never had any problems (obviously 'problems' is a relative thing); but it's always a crapshoot. I don't know what the commute out of ROC is like.

Commuting is no fun, and as capacity continues to be reduced it is becoming more of a headache.

Hey, thanks for the reply. My parents live halfway between the two so either one is fine. I guess one way to look at it is that he's got double the flights to work with, triple if he goes another half hour to BUF.
THanks again.

Agreed with Cruise. I'm based in SYR now and I rarely have problems. That being said- I have been thru ORD 3-4 times and been in the jumpseat 99% time. Especially on United.
