Commutable Multi-Engine Survey Pilot (500TT CA)

I just got word that my old company Aspen Helicopters is looking for pilots. They hired a few guys this summer with 500TT and one had less than 10ME. It's probably the most interesting flying you'll do and it's an incredibly fun job.

They pay for hotels, rental cars, you get gsa per diem and their pay's likely in the top 95 if not 99 percentile for that experience.

If you've got survey experience you'll be at the top of the pile. Email Bbusch@aspenhelo.com or dispatch@aspenhelo.com.

They fly partenavias and chieftains. They prefer guys near Oxnard, CA as they do a lot of work for the Navy and some ops are hard to staff for, but they do hire pilots from other states. The rotation they aim for is a 3 week on/off.

Thanks for posting this. I've been watching this company for positions that i qualify for for the last three years. At those times I could be competitive. I'll be applying as soon as I get off of work. Do you know if it is a w-2 or 1099 position?

You'd be an employee and not a contractor. You'd also get health and dental unless things have changed.

It's tough to say, because you're on a 3 and 3 rotation so you're rarely if ever out for a full month. I'd say the plane's average maybe about 80 hours a month if not a bit higher, but it depends on time of year really also the company is a contractor for other survey companies so there is a possibility you might be waiting for longer than 3 weeks off for your next rotation.

What has the pay been recently (hourly per flight hour -or- salary)? I live down in San Diego and their aircraft have been recently showing up to MYF.

I was down there a few times and based there for a week while I was with them. I'll pm you the pay, but it may have changed for new hires since I worked there.

I know you and I discussed this before, but how open are they to commutable / part time stuff? (I guess it would be contract in this case.)

Just had a nice chat on the phone with Brad. Very pleasant person to talk to, however what they have right now is not really commutable, mostly looking for someone local.
