Commercial Test Prep?

I want to start to prepare for the commercial written and checkride as it looks like that I'm finally approching the required numbers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What software and/or books would you suggest to prepare for the commercial tests? Any experiences? There are so many companies out there, advertsing that they have the best prep-material and the best deal, but I'm wondering who really does?

I also plan on getting the CFI's soon after the commercial, so if I could use some of this material again, it would be a great advantage(=less money for books, more money for flying! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif)

Any help appreciated!

Hey buddy---first of all best of luck to you with your Commercial written/checkride. To study for the written, and a cheap alternative to the Gleim/ASA books, go to www.mywrittenexam.com. This website will let you take as many FAA practice tests as you want, for free. You have to register your E-mail address so that they can send you results/questions missed. They also have a function to send the results to your CFI, along with the questions that you missed.

I just did that, then he signed me off when I went to take my written. I got a 96% on the test thanks to that website. Very good test prep. As for the checkride, bust out the FAR/AIM and study. For my commercial ride the biggest things were systems, high altitude, oxygen, the standard weather, aeromedical, pressurization, and commercial operations. Other than that the checkride should just be stuff that you already have had in the past, i.e. what is a metar, types of weather briefings, airspaces/Wx mins, situational stuff... all of that. Best of luck with your commercial training. Overall is a pretty easy rating, just a matter of mastering the airplane through a bunch of graceful manuevers.
