hello again.

i hope you are all doing well.

i just had a quick question; i am now training for commercial (ASEL) and was wondering about the dual x-country. it says in FAR, one VFR day and VFR night at least 2hours each.

iii) One cross-country flight of at least 2 hours in a single-engine airplane in day VFR conditions, consisting of a total straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical miles from the original point of departure;

(iv) One cross-country flight of at least 2 hours in a single-engine airplane in night VFR conditions, consisting of a total straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical miles from the original point of departure;

now the question is the distance. my CFI says that it has to be at least 100nm ONE WAY. but i read 100nm ROUND TRIP.

who agrees with me??

Round trip does not equal a straight line. 100 nm one way does.

not sure how you get RT from that but it would be incorrect.
