I have a few clients interested in obtaining both land and sea commercial certificates. My seaplane (straight floats) does qualify as complex and I have a Warrior.
Someone seeking a seaplane rating could log a few extra hours of seaplane training and have the needed 10 hours of complex time. One thought is to have them complete their CSES first and then add on CSEL. However, its very likely that most of the commercial maneuvers will have been practiced in the Warrior.
Any thoughts on combining the two into one checkride split between two planes? I know the FAA considers a seaplane with flaps and a constant speed prop to be complex but no ones going to get hurt if they land or takeoff with the water rudders in the wrong position and yet it appears to meet the complex requirement.
