Comair, flight attendants get more time to talk

Ahhh the *dreaded* April 17th.. I guess that's when everything is going to go down...that's DAL's date as well...I guess with that, i wouldn't be surprised to see DAL pilots walking with Comair F/A's

I'm all in support too! :)

I just feel bad for them, the mangers are sitting up there doing nothing but still getting paid and the front liners that actually RUN the airline have to sacrifice. This really sucks, I am with them %100. Two thumbs to all of them.

Regarding Delta and Comair, would the pilots at comair be able to honor a strike by mainline pilots? I don't really know how that works. Could mainline shift some of the routes to comair and have them flying more or is that not even a possibility based on aircraft utilization. I realize they can only fly routes that are pssible in an RJ. Just curious how the two will interact if Tooth-Fairy forbid it comes to it.

Increases in 'gauge', additional frequencies, or inaugurating new routes formerly flown by the striking carrier but not flown by the flying carrier constitutes 'struck work.'

Although it sucks what is going on at Comair, I assure you that no one is sitting there counting the money. Most departments at Comair have not had an increase in wages in 4 years, and have now taken between a four and seven % paycut. Not a small price to pay when you are only making 23k in the first place. The flight attendants have a very nice contract and if i were them I would not want to give it up either. It puts the pilots contract to shame with things such as lineholders cannot be reassigned when they are displaced off of a leg but are still being paid, hotel rooms in base for commuters when they displaced off of their overnights, and the ability to take whatever they want from reserves at their leisure regardless of operational needs. Do not get me wrong they deserve their contract seeing that they were smart enough to bargain for the above stated items, but everything that I have mentioned above are not available to the pilots. Pilot displaced off an overnight, dig in those pockets and pay fifty dollars, displaced off of your line, here take this horrible schedule that we have strung together for you for the rest of the week, oh we have a sweet overnight for you, already been given to a reserve and you can't have it. There is a major difference in how the two groups are treated, pilots are kicked in the rear and told to fly the plane where as the f/a's are coddled and told that it is alright. I realize that their salaries are far from great and I do not believe that it should be touched. But I do think that the F/A's should be willing to give up some of the perks of the contract in order to help. Final thought, it is hard to have a happy workforce when on the last leg of the day, due to the contract differences the flight attendants run out of duty day and are sent to the hotel and told to get a good nights sleep while the pilots are forced to ferry the plane on even though their duty days and block hours match. I do support the Unions and workgroups having their contracts, but I have a hard time swallowing it when the pilots have already made their sacrifices and have to watch as they get screwed while the F/A's get whatever they want.

Doug,

Could DAL mgt. tell Comair to fly lines that Delta currently flies? I understand Comair is owned by Delta, but could Comair be forced to fly this "struck work"?
