Since I know I am not the only one at Colgan who runs/walks on overnights....
I started a Colgan login at www.mapmyrun.com
The login is : Colganair
The password is: Colganair
Once you log in if you cant see the routes just look at the very top towards the left and click on "my runs".
If you go on an overnight and run a new route use the "map new run" tab and then when you are done save it as "PQI 3 Mile" for example. Make sure you are logged in as colganair to save it to our profile.
If you have never used mapmyrun before here are some quick tips.
1. When you first click to map a new route there will be two popups on top of the map (because its a free membership). Simply X out the big one and as for the one with the one with the gray border, wait a few seconds and it will shrink to half its size, simply drag it off to the corner of the screen.
2. If the run will only follow roads click on the "follow roads" checkbox towards the top right of the map. You can map a 10 mile run in most instances in less than 5 clicks and 1 minute.
3. When you save the run, if something is of interest such as its on a trail or take a right after mcdonalds etc, click next when you save it and put it in the remarks.
I will put this up in the crewroom in EWR as well to see if we can get some routes going for all walkers and runners of all distances. It would be nice to not have to run in circles on an overnight since some of us know some really interesting routes out there.
As an added bonus, if you have an iphone 3g or newer the runkeeper app is a must have.
I just started it so there are only 3 runs, but this site will only be as good as we want it to be. It would be nice to see in a few weeks time at least 1 running route for every Colgan overnight there is.
disclaimer: it should be obvious, but I have nothing to gain from this venture besides a few new running routes. This is not a commercial advertisement.
