Colgan Q-400 Training/Schedules

agreed, unless mgmt tries to get this in court somehow which is improbable, a union drive this summer won't happen. If this integration takes longer than expected, I'd like to see a drive just to show resolve.

One of the nice things about the ruling is the arbitrator apparently got a hint of what PCL management is like. Rather than just ruling and dumping, he's said he's gonna stay with it to make sure it happens in a timely fashion. If it was a rule and dump, you could bet any amount of money PCL would drag this on for as long as possible hoping for some kind of legal relief down the road. I'm sure the wheels are turning as it is. I doubt they know what "binding" in the term "binding arbitration" really means. We'll see, I guess. They've already tried to buy their way out of it with our negotiating committee.

The schedules are finally out.

On a side note... according to crewtrac, I'm flying a saab 340 tomorrow!

Hey, congrats on the transition! I'm going to have to call Mikey back now, though, and ask why you could transition (with no training) and I'm seat locked until May :D

Can anyone comment on how Flight safety is run for the 25 days. Is it mostly classroom, cbts, both along with the sim..Also, how is indoc, hours etc...Since I live locally was going to drive if indoc gets out early, but dont want to fight traffic if its too late.

Indoc is 9-5 at Manassas and you MAY get out a little early on a few days. Indoc wil run for two weeks or ten business days typically mon-fri.

I dont have the schedule handy for flight safety but it is 25 days and the first 7 or so are systems in a classroom followed by 3 days of CPTs with one of those days doing FMS training afterwards. After that you go to the Sim and will do 8 days of sims +-1 day. I cant remember but I think it is 6 days of sim prep, your checkride and a day of loft or it could be 7 prep, check, loft. With the weekends it equals around 25 days.

That is the basic format, the CPT 3 day is accurate, the systems is 7 or maybe 6 days or so and I already mentioned the sim. MOST people do not finish on time though with 75% of my class needing extra sim sessions which will keep you there much longer because there is no room in the schedule for extra sims so one extra sim may keep you there a week because they need to find room to squeeze you in. Also the sim tends to break which will push you back a session and again extend you for a week. My partner and I left right on time at the 26 day mark, another group left 2 days later than us, another 2 days after them and then the other groups were much later, not leaving until nearly 2-3 weeks after.

Please stop drinking the HATERADE! Sorry to inform you that filling seats on the Q has not been a problem! I'm already a pro at folding seatbelts.:bandit:

 Well, as long as people like you keep showing up to fold seatbelts for $21/hr, then I guess they won't have to worry. Have fun!

Mr.Haterade spent a year doing the Colgan, so he's got some room to talk.

I doubt you do.

Yeah I wouldn't call it "Haterade" either. Its just I delt with their staffing "issues" and felt the brunt of it by getting juniored manned at least once every month. I'm sorry, but the company has serious staffing issues and its because just about everyone knows that there are better places to work. Rather than work your pilots like a pack of rats, why not make it a better place to work to attract more people?

Not to mention, the outstation basing kills their staffing levels. With only have a few crews and each domicle, when someone calls out sick there is nobody to cover! Ridiculous. The company just does business half-assed. But hey, if you're willing to bend over and fold them seatbelts......
