Colgan on Massive Hiring Spree

Ahhh, it is called PAYING YOUR DUES.

Good things in life do not come easy. Bust your hump, and you will be more appreciative of the long term results.

Hey, these are opinion boards, that is my opinion. Most out there agree.

I think 3 or 4 out of 10 in the last class got IAH. I know that there was a memo saying that we needed fo's in IAH,TYR, SYR, and I think ROC that came out last month. THat being said, it could change at any day. Houston is a big hub for us and probably holds 1/4 of our pilot group. IT's the only place where we don't have out station basing. It's also the place where everyone sees the expanision happening in the near future. If you don't get IAH out of training, you will be able to hold it no more than probably 3 months or so. Colganites, tell me if you disagree :-)

Thanks for your informative response, I think I will be contacting Seggy and sending my resume soon!

That's almost like "60% of the time, it works every time!"

If a pilot that is hell bent on NOT flying a 1900, even though it's got two wings, a couple engines and they pay you to fly it, sounds like another case of shiney plane syndrome! ;)

Hey Colgan/Pinnacle guys....Since Pinnacle just bought Colgan, does that mean there will be a colgan base in Memphis and would it be a senior base or a junior new hire base? Or will they not even base colgan guys there since pinnacle is out of memphis? What are the junior colgan bases??

Im out of school in May and will be trying to launch applications a lot of places but didnt know anything about or heard of Colgan till I got here...Thanks for any help/advice

As of right now, they're keeping the two separate with separate HQs and management teams....."for as long as it remains profitable." Which means, if you want MEM, it's Pinnacle. As for the Colgan stuff, I've got no clue. Right now, it could go either way with the deal. It could be really bad or really good. We'll all just have to wait and see how it plays out. One thing's for certain, there's gonna be plenty of jobs at BOTH places. Attrition is picking up over here again (mostly on the CA side now), and the company is actually offering 150% to cover open time instead of just straight pay!

Definetly Agreed, can't really get around paying your dues,
I used too have to wipe down the struts and shine the wheel pans on preflight everyday on the P180. :(
Hated doing it but its all about paying your dues, putting the time in today to get to where you want to be tommorow.

Hey look, I know SmittyB personally. He's a good guy. He's a really smart kid who doesn't study for crap. Sorry Smitty, I like you; but let's be realistic, you didn't study for crap when you were my student. I definitely need to question your dedication. Hopefully that's changed in the last year and a half since I left FL. But, I can also relate, when I was your age, I had no dedication to studying either and that's why I'm in the position I'm in right now and not moving on to the ER like others who are my age. ;) It will all work out for you Smitty.....just get focused and finish your ratings. PM me if you want to chat. I'm always willing to help out others....esp. former students.

They turned me down with 1100/100, 2 months ago. I don't understand what they wanted because people with about 1/2 the time I had were getting interviews.

Not that I'm bitter or anything. I think it worked out because I'm in ATC school though.

I applied to Colgan a few months ago with 800/140 or so. I wonder why they never called me as well.

I'm pretty sure it worked out for me $$$-wise and QOL-wise though. Commutair did call, but they were too late as I was already in training.

Anyway Congrats again man, Commutair will take care of you, fly safe.
Happy skies,

Yeah, I applied at Colgan with about the same times and never got a call, either. Things seem to have worked out for me as well since I'm living back at home anyway. Oddly enough, it's all the same company now. Whoda thunk? :)

If you read Van's post more carefully, you'll see he's not at Colgan OR Commutair. Van said Commutair called too late. D'oh! :o

If I remember correctly, he's at XJT.....but I could be wrong about that.

Yeah I must have missed that part of the post.
Well I still think a Congatulations is in order.
Sincerely, ColganFO
