Colgan LGA Lines

So I was scared that I would turn down RAH and the LGA would suck like they did in PIT, but they are actually A LOT better than expected. They are set up like a REAL airline! With over nights and everything! And no stand-up overnight either, most layovers seem to be atleast 14 hrs or so. Its gonna be great being the most senior FO over there living at home. The lines are real easy for commuters too, they seem to start around 2:30pm and end around the same time. Can you tell I'm excited? Glad I decided to stay.

Sounds good for you man...the feeling we got in training today was that outstations weren't going away anytime soon.

Who knows really. They could be saying that just to make the people, who are here only to be home everynight, feel better (weird wording, sorry). Or they might be telling the truth, but remember, this isn't Colgan anymore running the show. Whatever is cheaper for PNCL is what will stay. I just hope LGA stays like this for atleast a while so I can get my time for upgrade.

They are going away quickly.

The feeling in training I got, no what was told to 20 newhires by the senator is that "selling Colgan was the biggest mistake in his life, I would NEVER do it again."

Fast forward 15 months and I work for Pinnacle Airline holdings.

PCL was outsation based once upon a time, and they flew Saab's, too. In fact, a few of those Saabs are Colgan planes now. I don't expect outstation basing to stick around any longer than absolutely necessary. Are they at least paying you guys per diem now that you've got overnights?

In all fairness Seggy, it really doesn't for people with family in base.

No it is not good for families that live in base. I don't know who reads these boards so I will keep in the company but it provides an excuse for poor planning by the company. I will leave it at that and take my word as someone who has been here two years why it is not good for EVERYONE.

The major downside is that if someone calls in sick with outstation basing, there's a mad scramble on to get that covered. With hub basing, you've got a stack of reserves and normal guys that can (and here DO) get their schedules altered to cover the extra flying.

A lot of guys do and a lot of guys don't. Glad you like it. What happens though if it is closed?
