I was checking out the UPS website and I ran across this. I figure there's quite a few members here who are still in college and working on their pilot licenses. This could be a great opportunity for someone. Good luck!

I hate to hijack here but for the winter season, UPS hires peak season drivers through December 31st usually. It might be another VERY good way to get in with them if you ever think about applying to fly for them someday. I did it last year and had a blast making great money. They called me back again this year so I must have done well. Anyway, if I choose to fly there someday this should help put me over the top. Via Co-op or Peak Driver, you WANT to be in with this company.

I know two guys that did this co-op in college. One is now a FO with UPS and the other, last I heard, was a Horizon Captain. I think the co-op position pays, too, which is a nice change of pace. I think to be competitive for this position you need to exceed the minimum requirements by a good margin. It's a quite competitive spot... as is any internship I suppose.

For what it's worth, I did a similar internship at American while in college. Basically, you develop CBT and AQP materials for a specific fleet or department. This requires you to a) learn the systems of the aircraft, and b) learn how to use the software to make the material. It's tedious work. I assume the UPS deal would be similar... any graphics/programming/language skills you have will be put to use. And UPS will love you because this material takes quite a bit of time and thought to develop.

If it hasn't been changed by now, I developed the CBT training for the MD-80 Fire Detection/Suppression system for American :) Among other things, of course!

My graphic skills are on par with those of a 4 year old. So I don't think they'll like my stick figures.

I just interviewed for this job today as well as a Sim training aid. I think the CBT and AQP will be fantastic experience. If you get a chance look at the cover of flight training magazine. the intern jobs are great way to grease you way into a lot of places never thought of before.

Considering stability and pay especially, UPS is my top goal right now as far as flying. Cool opportunity for anyone looking ;)
