Cleaning Headsets

PIL0T FISH

Riding the gravy train on biscuit wheels
Ok, so after a 23 hour weekend of towing on the beach, I took off my headset (Bose A20s) and it freakin' REEKED from being sweated in all day. My question is how do I go about cleaning the insides and the pads without ruining the material?

The pads/ear seals wear out pretty quickly, and they are also pretty cheap. I would just replace them (something like $20/$30).

Don't laugh...............Mr. Clean power multi-surface disinfecting wipes in Febreze fresh scent meadows & rain. Seriously, cleans them perfectly and has the Frebreeze scent in it- gets rid of all odors/smells. Freebreeze spray (lots of different scents- or just plain) is great for the sheepskin (if you have one) on your seat, the carpeting, or any cloth upholstery. I'll never live this chit down.

Hey...whatever works, right?

Call Bose. Ask for new ear seals. They're free. Includes shipping. Wipe the rest of the rig down with rag and rubbing alcohol.
On a side note: First pair of Bose bought in 2006. Factory rebuilt 3 times in 7 years for free. No questions asked. Called Bose a few weeks ago and the customer service agent was a total DB. I will not do business with Bose Aviation again. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I just had an incredible experience with them about 3 weeks ago. My A20 cord frayed (presumably caught in the seat rail), called about a replacement and they overnighted me a new cord assembly free-of-charge, including a return label for my frayed unit. I went to use the new one and the mic sounded way different than what I had before. I called Bose up again mid-trip and they sent me a new assembly again, saying the microphone in the second replacement lot was the same model as my original one. It was on my doorstep when I got home from my trip, return label included, once again and exactly as described. Both agents were super friendly and accommodating. Sorry your luck hasn't been the same recently.
