Your physican will ask you some personal medical-related questions. After, weight and height measurements are taken, blood pressure is checked, hearing is checked, vision is checked (ex. color and distant/near), and they make you pull down your pants ("turn your head and cough"). :yar:

I'm probably missing a few things, but those are the major things that I remember.

Other than that, no blood samples or cholesterol checks (no needles); but they do take a urine sample. For me, a First Class Medical has always taken no more than 45 minutes (more or less). Including the doctor's wait, I'm out of the door in an hour or less.

Good luck!

Thanks!
I just got back and passed, no needles :rawk:
It was a quick 10min vision test and then a 10min. regular physical. Easy

I just got my class 1 done today, I must say it was easier than I expected. It seriously took 20 mins! I did a piss sample, Doc asked a few questions did some simple test... no "turning of the head and coughing", I was surprised. Then the vision test was the longest part but after that I was good to go. I dont know if was suppose to be that easy or if i just had a doctor who didnt really want to take the time to do everything.

My 1st class medical exam is always really simple, Weight, height, hearing, eye sight, can you touch your toes that kind of thing. To me the hardest part is writing the check for $100 dollars. AHHH oh well money is only money right?!?!?!

Whaa?? I assure you, I can't touch my toes with my knees not bent and haven't been able to in years. :bandit:

They don't necessarily want you to be able to touch them my doctor says it to show that you are able to move about and such... :dunno:

Wow this is very surprising. I was always under the impression that a class 1 required bloodwork. When I went to go get my class 3 the nurses started prepping me for a class 1. They wanted to give me an EKG and full bloodwork. Can I just tell them that it is not required?

I dont think I would tell them that you think its not required, but out of experience the past three that i have gotten have been the exact same, I have also talked to some of my friends at school that have taken then in different states and they say that its very similar to mine, so I am not sure where they are telling you that you need an EKG and Blood done?!?!

Depends on your age. Look it up in the FARs. I'm not there yet! :p

AME vary widely in what consists of the examination for a first class medical. I may have heard of one that only does blood pressure and vision test, out the door. No coughing, peeing, bloodwork, hearing, etc.
