Citation II shades

Any suggestions on where to find cockpit windshield and window shades for a Citation II? All I can seem to find is the huge outside covers that strap to the fuselage of the airplane. I am looking for the shades that go inside the cockpit.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been told that an interior heat shield is bad for the windows and winshield because the reflection makes them that much hotter. The suggestion was to go with an outside cover for the cockpit. Anyone have experience with this problem?

Haven't heard that before, unless its citation specific. We use those sunfoil ones on our Lear 45 and have never had a problem. They work as advertised and do not make it hotter in the cockpit. I'm fact, on hot summer days we'll leave them up until the pax show just to keep it a little cooler up front.

Been doing for years in a Citation and no problem.

There are several different types of covers. Sunfoil-type are great. The older style wculd damage the window if placed in the window incorrectly (wrong side facing out). If you use them correctly, they work great too.

The problem with outside covers; difficult to install with one person, get dirty quickly, scratch paint and windshield if not really careful, etc....

So I am down to Sun foil for $350 or Brice's covers for $225. Are the Sun foils really worth another $125??

Call Bruce's and ask if their shades are one piece for each half of the windscreen, or one piece for each SECTION of the windscreen. I'm assuming, based on the design of the Citation windows, that it has to be one for each section.

The old ones we had in the Challenger were one piece per half. That meant that it went around the window post, and it was about 5 feet of sunscreen to screw with. Total PITA to install as half of it would flop around in your lap as you're trying to put the other half in the window. Now we have four different pieces, and it's much easier to handle.

I know a guy who just used those black nylon fold out ones in the Citations, seemed to work well and were designed for cars.

I normally just use the car ones in our Ultra and 340. When it is really hot I pull out the Bruce ones for the Ultra they do a much better job but take longer to store.
