citation 501 with two pilots

Got a company flying a citation 501SP, has recent williams fj44 engines upgrade. chief pilot says they fly with two pilots... when a company flies with two pilots in a single pilot airplane, does the insurance company insure the SIC as if the plane was certified for two? I would think the insurance mins would be considerably less than say the CE-500 (certified with two pilots required) Also, If the company requires two pilots how does the crew log flight time? would this fall under part 91 "sole manipulator"? or would the SIC legitimately log time as "SIC"?
 
Dunno about insurance.

As for two pilots, I believe even though it is certified for 1 pilot, because the 500 series are so similiar one type rating covers them all and to fly single pilot you have to have a single pilot exemption on your ticket. Not super sure though.

As for logging the time...I imagine people just log it and most people probably view it the same way people view part 91 king air SIC time.
 
Its part 91... Im familiar with 135 requiring two pilots.. but 91 ops requiring two pilots in a single pilot airplane, Im a little unfamiliar with.

I don't think there is any 91 reg that requires two pilots, it is probably an insurance thing. I think you are pretty much "hosed" for logging time since the airplane is a single pilot airplane (like a C90). I suppose you could log under the guise of "sole maninpulator" but you would need to be typed in the airplane as well, and to be honest that is kind of a grey area if you are planning on using that time to go somewhere else.
 
Unless the PIC was a flight instructor and providing flight instruction... Do you have a 501 type rating?

even that might be iffy, really. Best to just swap who's going to be 'PIC' on the legs.
