Chinook Family Day

Well, we had family day out here and since I couldn't bring the whole JC fam out there I decided to try out one of those nifty music/photo/video slideshows (it was my first one). Your truly on the hookup....notice the solid hover...

Neat! More of that and less Powerpoint might have kept me in. I actually got my dad a door ride on a UH-60 down at Benning last summer. That NEVER happens. A shame it was well past the submission of my commission resignation paperwork.

I forgot how clean and orderly they kept the cargo compartments of those things in Mother Rucker - they ain't gonna look like that out on the line!

It was also weird to see it with all the doors buttoned up and without the guns sticking out.

Was that an 18k block?

Nice video! Thanks for sharing. I got to fly on a UH-1 this summer. It was my first ever helicopter ride and it was awesome!

As I skated through the cabin on HYD fluid today I was wondering what you meant about how clean they were...the pics in my slideshow are those of the new F models we got here...they even have the new helicopter smell...

The block was a 14k, I attempted a 19,200 pounder the other day but we hit validation....

I'm still waiting on my huey ride...as often as we break you would have figured I would have gotten one by now! How did you like it?

I always thought that this would be the aircraft I wanted to fly. I may finally get my chance. Word on the street is Columbia is hiring for SIC seats. If not I am sending my resume down to LSI next month.

What's the deal with Columbia? Where are they based and what kind of work do they do?

And LSI as in Army Flight School LSI? No kidding? They taking guys without military flying experience? (I know you have non-flying experience, though.)

Columbia is in Oregon and they do utility throughout the world. They fly the Vertol 107. From what I have been told LSI does hire non mil pilots. The shortage is starting to hit all over. All you need is 500 hrs pic. They were recruiting at heli expo last year.

It is true...LSI has hired some civilians to start teaching...we had one in my primary class....

Columbia operates the 107 and the 234...the 107 is the -46 Sea Knight and the 234 is the Chinook...

Nice video, dude.

You wouldn't happen to have any relatives in the Navy would you? My RDC Chief (E-7) in bootcamp's last name was Large (if I'm reading your nametape right). Chief "Large and in Charge" we'd call him. :D

All my Navy family has retired awhile ago....so wasn't related to me!! But I get the Large and in Charge thing all the time....thanks for the video reply...
