Chinese Airline Job Fair

Interesting... I wonder how many applicants they'll get considering the steep time requirements and most of the furloughed guys from the majors have already been called back...

I got an email from a contact there. I think they are really starting to ramp up hiring. Had a bunch of job listings and pay, highest was $247,000 a year for an A320 CA. If I was in the US and had those credentials I would be BOLTING.

Maybe, but do you know the cost of living in China? It's pretty steep, especially in the cities.

Cost of living is not steep in China...yet. The cost of living is a fraction of what it is in the US. Of course, you can find mega expensive places to live in the major cities, but there are many nice places to live that are quite reasonable.

All I know is my buddy had a $1200 a month living allowance for room and board, and he got a 2 story penthouse with a maid and it covered all his bills, the rest of the $80k+ he made went into the bank, and that was when he was at the airline side of things.

Its also worth pointing out a lot of guys that meet these requirements are 45+ with a wife, two high school age kids, mortgage, and a dog with 10+ years of seniority at they're airline making 140-170K/yr already... therefore its not as enticing. I asked my friend at Spirit who is an A320 CA about this to which his response was "China!?, Hell naw!"

To each his own I guess...:)

Yeah I agree, although I did have a US Air jumpseater who said guys were getting typed and bolting for the 330 stuff. He said one guy did his check ride and handed in his badge right after doing the paperwork.

I know my buddy went over there without any PIC and got a PIC type to work at that Mesa airline venture. Then he went to the charter side of things. So I doubt those are "hard mins", more like "we're putting this out there in the hopes that someone will take the bait". Some of them even PS you to/from the US to start your sequence. Honestly if more did that, I think they would have a better response.

Threw a registration in there just to see if it would get any bites...we'll see, China seems like a place that might be fun to see/fly around for a few years.

I could see that at Airways for sure
