China Airlines Pilots:737-800, 747-400, A300-600

Re: China Airlines Pilots:737-800, 747-400, A300-6

damn, 747 f/o with 1,500 total time? No wonder they've had some uhh...safety issues in the past.

Well, that's my hometown airline. I do agree with you about the past accidents. The rumor I have been told is that CAL(voice callsign Dynasty, if you heard on ATC freq.) used to hired a lot of retired military pilots. Those pilots had a big problem with CRM. They also like to fly 747 like the fighter jet they used to fly(ie. F-5, F16).

I think there are quiet few students for CAL down to Sanford(DCA).

Don't forget senority to that! Many Asian have to respect anyone who's older. Since most captains are older anyway, F/O opinion is almost useless in the cockpit. My hometown airline is one of them. (Take a guess)

Coolio! One of our friends out here in PHX is from Thailand. But she's from deep in the country.

I know like three curse phrases, but that's about it.

Wow...that's cool...I don't really know anybody from Thailand in the US. Matter of fact, I've been here eight years and have no Thai friend here at all.

I have been here for about 12 years. The first I college I attend down to Georgia,I was the first student from my country since school started about 120 years ago. Therefore, my English get better everyday. The only problem I have with my "southern Chinese" accent is talking to ATC. I have to slow down and annunicate.

We call her "Nuning" because her real name is too hard to prounounce correctly!

Re: China Airlines Pilots:737-800, 747-400, A300-6

All Thai names are hard to pronounce even for our own people. And if you've noticed, everyone has a nickname. I, myself, also have nickname...and if that's isn't enough, my real name has a p...o...r....(blank) clearly spelled out in it.

FYI for airlines in Thailand. I think all but one airline required pilots to be Thai nationality or citizen. And most required you to pass amptitude test to get a job.I'm not really sure about the importance since I've never heard of any US carriers have this as requirement but may be Doug or someone else may have answer to this.
