The Fixed Wing Chief Pilot divides his focus between external and internal aviation activities. This person obtains direction from the Director of Operations. The position has both tactical and strategic elements; seeking solutions to short-term operational issues, and planning long-term solutions to encompass the corporate strategic vision.
The Chief Pilot is responsible for ensuring that all company airmen remain legally qualified to serve as safe, proficient, and competent flight crewmembers under the Company Carrier Certificate. The Chief Pilot helps ensure that all pilots operate Company aircraft in accordance with the standards under which they were trained, and practice those training habits in their daily routine.
The Chief Pilot monitors the operational environment in which company conducts all flight operations. He recommends and executes changes in the pilot training program which adequately overcome operational challenges and accurately reflect the current operating environment.
The Chief Pilot has a deep knowledge and respect for the duties and
responsibilities of the line pilot and assists them as necessary to succeed in those roles.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
This position reports to the Director of Operations.
All company Fixed Wing line pilots report directly to this person while
executing the flight operational and regulatory functions of those positions.
