Boeing Defence Australia is now recruiting for the position of Chief Pilot based in Brisbane.

As the Chief Pilot you are primarily responsible for the strategic leadership and guidance of flight operations teams across all programs. This role is also responsible for provision of the technical expertise and advice required to ensure that developing proposals are executable and that the business understands potential flight operations risks in new business.

You will also provide support to existing flight operations including safe governance, direction and execution of flight operations within BDA.

This role involves the following key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the safe conduct of BDA flight operations in Australia including professional governance, the identification of appropriate performance metrics and the introduction of best practices;
  • Responsible to ensure that appropriate people, processes and data are employed in the flight operations activities of all programs, ensuring adherence to company and contemporary business standards.
  • Develop key flight operations staff through the provision of functional support in training and mentoring;
  • Establish, oversee and provide independent review of Operational Airworthiness standards across all BDA flight operations activities.

BDA requires all applicants to be able to demonstrate the following essential qualifications:

  • Held Senior Management positions within ADF flying operations;
  • Military Pilot Qualification;
  • Sound knowledge of ADF and Civil Aviation regulatory requirements for military and commercial air operations.

The desirable criteria for this role include:

  • Military Qualified Flying Instructor or Qualified Test Pilot;
  • Current CASA Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL) and experience in working within a matrix or dual reporting functionality environment;
  • Experience as Chief or Senior Instructor in an ADF flying training environment.
