It is located 2 &#189; hours from Las Vegas and 3 &#189; hours from Salt Lake City.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Southern Utah University invites applications for Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor - Fixed Wing/Professional in Residence for Aviation. &nbsp;This is a full-time, 11-month position to start as soon as possible after closing. Salary is $65,000 - $75,000 depending on experience, excellent benefits.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Southern Utah University (SUU) is a flight-training program that operates both rotor- and fixed-wing aircraft. Applicants must have experience on both air frame and power plant as well as a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) A&amp;P license. Successful applicants will be responsible for preventative and repair maintenance on a variety of air frames.</div><div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div><div><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong><br /><ul><li>Certifying each student&#8217;s training record, graduation certificate, stage check and end-of course test report, recommendation for course completion, and application.</li><li>Must insure quality of instruction meets 80% pass rate as stated by FAR 141.83.</li><li>Ensures that all line instructors meet and maintain FAR 141 requirements.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensures that each student accomplishes the required stage checks and end-of-course tests in accordance with the school&#8217;s approved training course.</li><li>Maintaining training techniques, procedures and standards for the school that is acceptable to the Administrator.</li><li>Maintaining accuracy in all appropriate records, including student training records, student logbooks, and computer records.</li><li>Submit required reports to local Federal Aviation Administration.</li><li>Recommending curriculum and coursework improvements when appropriate.</li><li>Develop and maintain current course syllabi/outlines for assigned courses.</li><li>Actively participate in program promotion and recruitment of students, provide academic advising as needed, and assist in the placement and follow up of graduates.</li><li>Stay up to date with trends in the field and update program curriculum and equipment as appropriate to improve student learning.</li><li>Maintain professional appearance of office and laboratory areas.</li><li>Establish and supervise a standardization program for the pilot instructors.</li><li>Initiate curriculum updates and maintain the centralized curriculum including course outlines on file for the programs.</li><li>Coordinate and develop the student and staff schedules for the programs.</li><li>Maintain a professional working relationship with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration.</li></ul></div>
