Anyone know where to get a taildragger checkout in the Chicago area (I'm talking like within 50-100 miles). Also, anyone know of places here in the Midwest to get a seaplane rating? Or to get the seaplane rating, non-Midwest restrictive? I'm planning my conquest of every pilot certificate/rating out there!

Taildragger: I dunno.
Saeplane (outside IL) Sheble Aviaiton in Kingman, AZ. They have a two-day SES course that runss just under $1,000 (but that includes everything).
 
Kenmore Air

Kenmore Air has an SES program using a Super Cub. They work out of Lake Union/Washington in Seattle.

Course, if you got the scratch, they will accomodate you with a Beaver.

For the taildragger try pilotmakers at KDPA, or littlefield aviation at KC09. I don't know of any places to get your seaplane rating in the midwest region

I did my SES at Brown's Seaplane Base in Winter Haven, FL in a J-3. I'm hoping to do my CSES add-on, useless as it may be for me, because it's just another excuse to go fly a seaplane.

Check out the place in Moline, IL. My boyfriend's grandfather lives across the river in Bettendorf, IA and we are headed up there for a weekend in June - I hope to get at least one flight in while up there. Might go back to Jack Brown's for the CSES this winter if cash permits.

Talk to Andy Surratt at PilotMakers at DPA - 630-443-5130. He was running a checkout special, but is now trying to sell his Citabria. It's in very nice condition.
 
If Andy doesnt work out, you can try Cindy Limbach at Morris C09 815-941-0063. I did my CFI Spin Training with her in her Decathlon.
