Just a question. From an X Boom.

Mike, if it takes what; two or three months to get combat ready. How long will it be before you are back in the sand pile?

To be Combat Mission Ready in the F-117entails a 3 month transition course, then assignment to one of the two operational squadrons, then a 6-10 ride Mission Qual course before you're blessed as CMR.

Thing about the 117. Unlike the F-15/16 and A-10, the 117s aren't assigned to any of the USAF Air Expeditionary Forces that regularly deploy each roughly year and a half. Since there's only two squadrons, and going to only be about 38 or so 117s in service (USAF is retiring 15% of the force), the 117s are a "911 force", ie- they only deploy when called and when something is darn sure going to happen. It's an expensive airframe that's expensive to operate, so they're not used in a "regular" fashion.

So basically, if you disappear for a couple of days off of jetcareers, we'd better start frequenting CNN/Fox/MSNBC for breaking news, eh?
