Chandler Air Service FBO: Anyone used them?

Really? Any specifics? Have you used falcon before? I saw there website but I didnt see any ballpark costs for the ratings. I love how if you pay in advance, the rental rates go down a ton. I do not see how much they charge per hour for instruction.

I am visiting in spring break and I will check a number of schools and then make my decision.

I would avoid Chandler Air Service as they have a pretty poor repuation. If you're looking for a cheap FBO try Falcon Executive @ http://www.falconaviation.com.

I attended Tucson Aeroservice in Marana AZ (AVQ). I went IR and Comm there. Their fleet is well maintained, and are relatively cheap. The staff is among the best I've found in the southern AZ area. Chief instructor is a DPE, and is extremely professional and thorough.

Chandler Air Service probably has the oldest fleet in town and I have heard their MX may be questionable. I had a buddy that worked there as a line man a while back and he recommends avoiding the place.
Never rented from Falcon but I have a few friends that instruct there and their facilities and aircraft are nice. Couldn't tell ya how much an hour of instruction will cost ya there though. Keep in mind PHX is huge and the FBO you eventually choose will probably have a lot to do with where you live.

Thanks. I am in the process of transfering to ASU from UND and I will have my private. Looking get all my ratings so I can be a flight instructor part time while I am in school.

Cool, I graduated from ASU last month, I'm gonna miss it! You'll have a blast! What are you majoring in? I did the flight program and instructed my last year and a half.

I really want to get a business degree. Finance is my first choice. How ever, getting into the business school with in a year or two will be a challenge for me. I just want something in case I lose my medical down the road.

Well as I am at Chandler Aviation, I guess I'll give you a look from someone whom is actually there. First off, I have had nothing but great training there. I just got my CFI over a week ago and will be working there shortly. Chandler has a lot of planes for an FBO. The instructors all seem to be very good. My instructor's name is Matt and I can honestly say he was very good.

Though the school does alot of primary training, they specialize in upset recovery, tailwheel and aerobatic training. This includes doing alot of training for various Federal Law Enforcement organizations. They have also been tasked with doing alot of Spin Endorcement's for CFI students of numerous Flight Schools and Academies.

The owner and the chief pilot are long time pilots (we are talking 10's of thousands of hours) and they are very experienced competetion aerobatics guys. They are also both DPE's and are old school. This for me worked out very welll indeed as I like their philosphy. They teach you to aggressively fly the airplane. And you will. You will also learn to feel confident in all areas of flying and you will never have a timid instructor not instructing you to do a turning stall because they themselves don't feel comfortable doing it. You will learn to own it......

Do they have all the bells and whistle's of new aircraft? No, but they have well maintained warriors and arrows that get the job done. I have no doubt that you will have a quality training experience here.

As far as Mx issues go, I have not experienced anything different than anywhere else in terms of aircraft that are used alot. But I never felt them to be unsafe. If I did, I would never have trained there.

Honestly, if you are in the Phx area, call an schedule an appointment to talk to someone and come see for yourself.

I feel your pain. I actually tried to transfer to UND and ASU last year but didn't after I figured out how long it would take me to graduate with a degree in Finance. I opted to stay put so I could graduate with my general business degree sooner. I wish I could've transferred and done finance though.

I fell in love with ASU. Very fun setting and atmosphere. Maybe I'll go there for grad school. Have fun for me there!
