CFI then MEI or CFII?

So I already have my fresh new CFI and planning to get add-ons. If I were to get my MEI only and no CFI-I, am I going to be busy with work? My school has couple of seminoles that is being used a lot. I don't want to get my CFI-I just yet as I am not interested for now.

Or does it have to be in order CFII then MEI in order to really teach?

100% go for the CFII first. It is a lot more work than the MEI, but provides a lot more revenue generating potential with Instrument students and instrument comp checks.. The MEI is the gift you give yourself once you've done all the hard work of the CFII.

Do it in order for what you know best....

I was better with instrument work so I did CFI-I as my initial to make the initial easier on me (and more confident for me)....did CFI-A add-on 2 weeks later. Whatever you feel more comfortable with since the initial is usually the hardest.

Thanks. Yeah I already got my initial and just trying to figure out if I do my MEI next or CFII since the MEI requires no written and I am really comfortable with the seminole.

As a competent instrument current CFI, you should be able to pass the II written with little to no studying. It's the exact same test as the instrument initial.

It's been a while since i instructed, but don't you have to have a CFII and MEI to teach a Commercial Multi student because one of the required maneuvers is an engine out instrument approach? With only an MEI and no CFII, you can only teach Private Pilot AMEL? Any of this sound familiar or am I remembering something all sorts of backwards?

get the mei. You'll be doing oei approaches and multi work. It's the best of both worlds!

what he said. I got my CFI and II the same day. I've had lots of IFR students. But in the 13 years I've been a CFII, I've only had one student inquire about multi training. Unless your school has a busy twin(s)

I work at a flight school and for every student wanting to get their multi we have 15 going for their instrument, CFII is the way to go if you're looking for hour building and more income

Hello. Did you do your cfii initial and Cfi add on simultaneously or did you focus totally on the cfii initial first and then added the Cfi add on two weeks later?
