CFI Renewal with IACRA?

OK so forgive me but I'm apparently old now.

My CFI is up for renewal in March, but given that I live overseas, going to the FSDO as I usually have is not an option.

The last few times I've just paid American Flyers to submit on my behalf but I'm wondering...

Can I just submit the documents through IACRA myself and get the renewal? Is there any gotchas?

for a FIRC it has to go through the ACR so I use Flyers.

If you don't use them you have to do the FSDO. Some will do Teams appointments but most delegate it to DPEs.

Any will do. Think easier to let flyers do it. Get it done before this comes into force.

Dont forget this will be your final renewal. It's only FIRCs needed in future...

I renewed mine via adding a Gold Seal [glow up ]. Did it through the DC FSDO. Couldn’t have been any easier. 10/10

Just renewed mine (again) this year so will see what it looks like without an expiry.
(Getting in there before I have to have my agent send it to me) Ugh.

Registry have processed so Let’s see if USPS can get it here before the Trumpiancy…

AOPA's FIRC has the ability to submit it to the FSDO and issue a temporary until you're IACRA is processed. I've found that to be a huge relief if you are close to your expiration date and get anxiety about deadlines.

Same for Flyers, they usually turn it around in a couple of days once you've finished the 16 chapterz

you have to go through IACRA anyway. The problem is that it needs to be approved. That’s often done with a fee to the FIRC company, but it can also be done by a FSDO or DPE based in the graduation certificate. The last two I’ve done (including this past week) were signed off by a DPE friend.

Sportys FIRC does the same for a nominal fee, all the processing. Though I do have the option of taking an agency letter to the FSDO stating I’m assigned as a fed gov agency IP, and they instantly renew it. Though I like the FIRC in order to keep up with changes I may not have heard about.
