Hello everyone!

mom currently on track to get my CFI certification (hopefully by January).I am a permanent resident (green card holder).

When I applied for training at my school, I went through TSA’s alien flight safety program, to obtain permission to train.

Question: Once becoming a CFI, do I need to do any TSA related applications?

Best,

Nati

Not sure exactly what you are asking, but as a CFI you will be required to perform TSA alien flight citizenship verifications and undergo annual security training. This should be covered in your CFI training as part of your CFI responsibilities.

The CFI cert does not need any TSA approvals as it is not a pilot certificate.

  • I meant, as a non citizen, what (if anything) do I need to do TSA wise before starting to work as a CFI?

AFAIK, only the annual security awareness training required of all CFIs. But that doesn't mean there won't be non-TSA verification requirements associated with where and how you are employed.
