Does anyone in the DFW area have experience in a Grumman aircraft? I don't have a specific model but most probably a civilian light single engine type. Someone called me looking for a CFI that has experience in those aircraft (and I don't). If you're interested PM me and I'll give you the number.

Re: Looking for CFI with experience in Grumman aircrafts

If it is a light single grumman (tiger or something), I have no clue why somebody would be looking for type specific experience. It airplane, it fly.

Re: Looking for CFI with experience in Grumman aircrafts

It's a Grumman AA-5 Traveler, the guy wants to do some touch n goes this afternoon (sunday 22nd). I forgot to ask him where he's based but it's the dfw area.

Give us a review of the flight. I flew with an AA-5 owner and he refused to do stalls. Apparently they have a reputation for nasty stalls.

he's a retired b52 / helo pilot...

never flown small planes.. anyway, it was fun. he's a funny guy. he has the "treat me like a new student" attitude... so thats good. i was like, well, wanna see a stall? "sure"

no problem with the stalls... i did 1 he did 2.

he really just wanted to work on landings. he's got 20,000 hours in heavy jets and helos.

he worked on some landings, and it was all fine. he's really hard on himself, which is good i guess.... but really wasnt a problem, a bit more practice and he'll be good to go. which means i'll be jobless again..... ahhhh the life of a CFI... lol or at least i'll be out of THIS particular job...

He might call you back at some point or give your contact info to someone else, so hopefully it is going to help you out in the future.
